I’m going to let you in on a little secret.
I (Carmen) am actually terrible at consistently using a planner.
My husband and I have a shared calendar that we write things in and that seems to be where most of my energy goes for planning. If need be, I will write reminders and notes in my phone.
However, my favorite thing about using a planner is the progress that I see when I am consistent. There is something beneficial (scientifically proven) about writing stuff down and it has proven true in my life.
Reuben and I went away for our annual planning weekend on Thursday. Last year, this same weekend was my favorite weekend of the year. This year I was psyched to spend the weekend planning out the year and the next years.
One of my favorite things about the weekend is looking at our goals and what we accomplished.
It’s one of the most satisfying things in the world. That feeling is my favorite thing about using a planner.
Three of my favorite things about using a paper planner (when I remember):
- The meal planner.
- A sure place that I can go to knowing everything is recorded properly.
- The section for notes
- I use this for random recipes, lists, and church notes.
